Helping to "Reach" todays teens, Tango produces DVD video for local theatre group. When we first saw the drama "Reach" played out in front us, it was clear to us this should be brought to much larger audience. Ben Hodge and Nick Curry, along with some students, wrote and created the play for their high school drama kids to inspire them and the audience to look past the surface and "reach" for a deeper connection to those around us.
The 2 act play introduces us to the lives, troubles and temptations of a number of high school kids. The issues facing these kids run the gamut of ills facing todays students and mirror those of society at large. Drug use, sexual promiscuity , violence and isolation are a few of the tough topics facing these kids.
For our part, Tango stepped up and offered to produce the play as a DVD with accompanying website. To this end, we brought in our friends from RCTV and there mobile production truck to do a 3 camera shoot of the play. We utilized the beautiful and historic Strand Capital in downtown York for the stage and, over the course of a cold January weekend, wrapped up the production.
We are currently completing the offline edit and audio sweeting for the post production treatment, and have begun gathering info and relevant links for the website. The website itself will encourage kids and parents to explore ways they can get or give help to the particular issues a person maybe facing.
Technically we look forward to integrating the new CS4 Master Collection to create the offline edit and our recently updated Autodesk Smoke system for the online edit, color correction and effects. Part of the plan is to use the Sapphire Sparks in our arnesal to add a "film look" to the otherwise stunning SD images. The final video will be letterbox and authored to DVD using Sonic Scenarist. Compression will be handled by our StreamZ so the video will retain it pristine quality when converted for the web.
Look for continued post on this production as we get closer to wrapping it up.
